For this study, Masters student Katrin Wolf of Swansea University conducted a discourse analysis of editorials and opinion pieces in German and British newspapers covering the war on Gaza of December 2008 / January 2009.
Both countries have a special relationship with Israel, Germany because of its legacy regarding the Holocaust, and Britain because of its role in the establishment of Israel. The analysis points to the conclusion that there are more differences between liberal and conservative newspapers than between national discourses.
