A report conducted by the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly. The media has an important impact on the lives of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees and their level of integration into society and their acceptance by society.
While no undue restrictions should be placed on freedom of expression, the media has a responsibility to portray accurately the situation of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees and reflect the positive contribution they make to the society in which they live. The media also has a responsibility to avoid stereotyping these persons, which can contribute to discrimination, racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance in society, including anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and Romanophobia. Including an extensive recommendation for media-usage in European countries.
