Journalists whose work addresses poverty, exclusion and inequality are eligible for this award. The Inter-American Institute of Human Rights is accepting submissions for its III Regional Award for Journalism, Poverty and Human Rights in the Andean Region (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela).
Pieces published or aired in Spanish between June 1st, 2011 and June 30th, 2012 can be submitted.
Submissions must be framed around the theme of economic, social and cultural rights, their causes, and solutions for or characteristics of poverty, exclusion and inequality.
Features, reports, essays or news stories can be submitted in the name of an author, a media outlet or an NGO.
The award includes a diploma and US$2,500 in the form of a complete scholarship (airfare, stay and training) to participate in the Interdisciplinary Course on Human Rights September 3 – 14, 2012 in Costa Rica.
The deadline is 30 July 2012.
