Invitation to Leveson Inquiry meeting at 11am on Monday 21st November

The UK Shadow Minister for Culture, Helen Goodman, is concerned that the UK Leveson Inquiry on press ethics has not made sufficient effort to contact members of the public for their views on journalism ethics and regulation – especially those whose lives have been affected by unethical practices (and not just phone hacking or surveillance by private detectives). Since minority groups in society are particularly vulnerable to media misrepresentation (mostly in the tabloid press), Helen Goodman is especially encouraging organisations representing minorities to make submissions to the Inquiry.

Helen Goodman will be holding a meeting on the Leveson Inquiry at 11am on Monday 21st November in Room N, Portcullis House, London, SW1A 2LW. All those interested in discussing the issues around the inquiry are invited to attend.

If you would like to attend the meeting please contact Michael Appleton, Parliamentary Assistant to Helen Goodman Shadow Minister for Culture, Media and Sport via email: michael.appleton@parliament.uk

You can also send your evidence directly to the Leveson Inquiry.

This can be done by visiting the Leveson Inquiry website or by emailing your submissions to: generalenquiries@levesoninquiry.org.uk

Please aim to make submissions by the end of November. It is very important to provide case studies which you can use to illustrate the concerns that you are seeking to draw attention to. It is also important to provide general information surrounding your submission and the changes you would like to see.
