This handbook is designed to provide advice and guidance on fact-based reporting for journalists whenever they need it. The manual was drawn from the wide experiences of Reuters’ journalists. It is not intended to be a complete guide to all journalists everywhere, recognising that conditions under which the media operate vary widely from country to country. From understanding the basics of story writing and avoiding cliches and jargon, to managing breaking news, captioning pictures, and dealing with sources, this guidebook is a valuable resource for any journalist. It also offers examples of the practices journalists at Reuters have followed in the course of the news agency’s 150-year old history while it includes various Style Guides.
