CIVIS Europe´s media Prize for Integration

CIVIS – Europe’s Media Prize for Integration and Cultural Diversity is looking for radio and television programmes as well as journalistic Internet offers, which handle the themes of integration and cultural diversity in Europe in convincing fashion.

The CIVIS Media Prize is intended to sensitise journalists of the electronic media for the themes of integration and cultural diversity in Europe and encourage them in their work through the honouring of exemplary programmes. The CIVIS Media Prize 2011 will be awarded as the European TV Prize and European Radio Prize for German language programmes.

With the “Young CIVIS Media Prize” there will once again also be a European sponsorship prize for young journalists as well as students at the film and media schools and colleges. The new “CIVIS Online Prize” will offer an additional award for journalistically-designed webpages on the theme of integration and cultural diversity.
The European CIVIS Media Prize is organized by the Association of the Public Broadcasting Corporation in the Federal Republic of Germany (ARD), represented by the WDR, together with the Freudenberg Foundation. The ZDF, ORF, SRG SSR idée suisse, RTV Slovenia, Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandradio, PHOENIX, ARTE, 3sat and the EBU are media partners.
The German Savings Bank Association, the European Parliament, the Integration Commissioner of the German Federal Government, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, the WDR mediagroup and BAVARIA Film und Fernsehen are cooperation partners.

Prize: The European CIVIS Media Prize 2011 is endowed with a total of 46,000 Euros. All radio and TV broadcasting companies, media schools, universities and academies as well as web suppliers in the European Union and Switzerland can take part. The deadline for entries is January 20, 2011.
